Cohen's Captain America party.

When my son, Cohen, was turning 6, he had to have a Captain America birthday party. It was really fun to plan it and see it come to fruition. My sister, Jaime, took this photo below and turned it into the awesome birthday invitation.
We played a lot of games outside and had different stations the kids rotated to also.
Pass the Kryptonite, like Hot Potato:
Spider Web game -- this one was a tad tricky to get everyone undone afterwards.
One of the stations was "mighty  minds" where the kids had to guess how many gumballs were in the jar. At the end of the party, we told the kids how many were in it and the kid with the closest guess got to take them all home.
Vanquish the Villain -- the kids shot pictures of villains with silly string.
I made capes for all the kids.
 Pinata time.
The food table. I love the Captain America photos on the table. I bought the star straws off etsy online.
My kid loves sugar cookies. I had to serve those.
I made jello jigglers and cut them out with a star cookie cutter. Being that it was December, it was easy to find star shaped cookie cutters.
All the food labels and the Eat.Avenge.Repeat. sign were made by my sweet sister, Jaime. She adds all the special details to my parties.
The favors were 1 inch gumballs I bought online in plastic tubes. And the thank you tags were designed by my sis, too! Love them!
Happy birthday, Cohen! We love you!

Friendship themed Relief Society Dinner.

I spent a lot of time planning for our big Relief Society dinner/Visiting Teaching Conference. After tossing around a lot of ideas, I finally settled on the theme of friendship. I saw this Mary Engelbreit illustration and quote that I loved, and it became the basis for the whole night. I had so much help from Jaime, my sis. She designed these awesome invitations and helped me so much as I planned the décor . Another sweet friend, Katie, helped me with the food.. we decided to have it catered by Kneaders. We had to go eat there to really look at everything and decide.. ;) We even tried some desserts just to be sure.. it was fun, fun!! I bought this adorable polka dot teapot there that I just knew I wanted to use. Another dear friend, Sarah, who is crazy talented by the way, went with me to Hobby Lobby and The Dollar Store with me for frames, vases, and other décor.. we found these adorable artificial fruits that ended up being perfect for the theme. I'd printed out ...

How we do chores.

I was searching the internet a few months ago for some ideas on creating a chore schedule for myself and my kids that would help us to keep our home clean. I tend to get into the habit of letting things get really dirty and then doing a major scrub down for a few days that leaves me exhausted and cranky. I thought there had to be a better, more manageable way. And then I found an idea to make a 7 day chore schedule that went along with the days of the Creation in the Holy Bible. I thought this was a great idea and so creative, which I always appreciate. So, I sat down with my hubby and kids and we brainstormed ideas of how this could be done. We broke down each day and what we could do. And then I found pictures online that went along with our chores and typed up these pages. After laminating them, they were ready to go! I keep them in a file folder my kids can easily reach on the kitchen counter, and each morning one of them will put up the chore page for the ...

Teacher Appreciation Gifts. By color.

With teacher appreciation happening this week, I knew I wanted to do something nice for my 3 kids' teachers. I fell back on my usual gift ideas, and did a combination of chocolate, gum, and goodies from Bath & Body Works. All women like those things, yes? And, yes, I'm kind of a color coordinating freak. I love things to match, so I first chose 3 chocolates at Target and then went to their dollar section and found a few things that matched the chocolates.  How cute are these pink and white thumb tacks? The little sticky notes are a very light shade of blue that I thought worked with the turquoise. And I loved the purple pencils and purple paper clips, too.  I made sure to get 5 small things for each teacher. Bath and Body Works always has cute little sanitizers, sprays, and lotions.   The white scalloped edge tins I found at Target in their party section with all the wedding stuff.  Luckily I had filler leftover from Easter, and I always ha...
